Where you’ll stay
You’ll stay at the 3* Hotel des Pins in the centre of Bedoin. The hotel combines cosy and comfortable surroundings with unrivalled tranquillity. In the shade of the pine trees, dive into the swimming pool and unwind in the garden, soothed by the gentle song of cicadas.
-
Distance: 22km
Elevation: 350m D+
Climb(s): Col de la Madeleine (449m)
After your arrival we would go for a very quick (60 min) spin to check the bikes and orient ourselves before heading into the town for a welcome drink and dinner.
-
Distance: 55km
Elevation: 1780m D+
Climb(s): Mont Ventoux (1910m)
Straight in at the deep end! Leaving the hotel after a hearty breakfast you’ll ride out of Bedoin and straight onto the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux. The climb has a gentle start through the vineyards, before really kicking off at the first hairpin. The road gets steep all the way through the forest before easing as you reach Chalet Reynard. Now the summit comes into view, but there’s still a fair way to go to reach your goal. The views open up over the plains below, as the landscape next to you gets more and more barren.
Once at the top you’ll drop down to Malaucene for a coffee and lunch before riding around to Bedoin and the hotel via the Col de la Madeleine.
-
Distance: 74km
Elevation: 960m D+
Climb(s): Gorges de la Nesque (734m)
A real must do in the region. Gorges de la Nesque is an incredible road just to the south of Bedoin that hugs the cliffside for around 20km, passing through rock tunnels and just getting more and more spectacular. After a coffee and lunch in Monieux you’ll ride another incredibly quiet and almost as stunning road looping back around to Bedoin and the hotel.
-
Distance: 100km
Elevation: 1420m D+
Climb(s): Col de la Madeleine (456m) Veaux (577m) Col d’Aurel (784m)
The longest day on the bike today starts with rolling roads around to Malaucene. From there we head to the beautiful Gorges de Toulourenc. This is the northern side of Mont Ventoux and the road leads you through lovely villages, gently rising almost all the way to Sault where you’ll have lunch. After Sault you’ll enjoy the reverse route from yesterday down the Gorges de la Nesque, before heading north back to Bedoin.
-
Distance: 55km
Elevation: 1770m D+
Climbs: Mont Ventoux (1910m)
Your last day has you climbing up to Ventoux, but this time from Malaucene. Warm up on the same roads as yesterday over to the foot of the climb. The road is never quite as steep as it is from Bedoin, and there’s a very welcome cafe just 5km from the top which serves perfect crepes to give you the little boost you might need to reach the summit. The views to the north of the mountain are wonderful, with the alps stretching from left to right on the near horizon. Once at the summit (where you have lunch - weather permitting), we’ll drop back down to the hotel for a final massage, souvenir shopping and dinner.
-
Time to say your goodbyes and revel in having conquered Mont Ventoux (twice!)
